CENSORSHIP

CENSOR: to give as ones opinion, one who supervises conduct and morals: as a: an official who examines material (as publications or films for objectional matter b: an official (as in time of war) who reads communications (letters) and deletes material considered sensitive or harmful.

Censorship is to listen to ones opinion and decide that it is too “harmful’ or disruptive for the public.

1. I.e. a government kills a man because he suggest the world is round.

2. there is a plane about to fly in to canada to drop a bomb, the goverement knows wich way it is going and will take it out… but if they tell the country then the owner of the plane will fly it in somewhere else, people will die unless it’s a secret.

Obviusly the more fruitful, productive thing to do in the 2 senerio was to keep it a secret, the first is obviusly less fruitful then to keep the man alive- not only because the world isnt flat- but also because he wouldn’t say such a broad statement he doesn’t truly believe in if he knows it will kill him.

The difference in the two is opinion and fact… thus I introduce a much needed thesus statement- if a claim is an opinion then it is only harmful to society in another opinions view. Or if something isnt proven true it cant be proven harmful or in vice versa if something is proven true it can be proven harmful… depending on the view of society of what is harmful.
